WAKE UP (OH, SLEEPER)

Wake Up (Oh, Sleeper) :: TRIBE & TONGUE from TRIBE & TONGUE on Vimeo.

Wake up oh sleeper
Rise from the darkness
Come and be drenched with light

But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.  This is why it is said:

“Wake up, sleeper,
    rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise...  Ephesians 5: 13-15

Those who are thirsty
There's living water
Come and be filled with life

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Issiah 55:1

Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. John 7:38

Heaven is pouring
And He is restoring
All our brokenness

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.  Isaiah 61:1-3

Freedom is calling
And our chains are falling
To the feet of the King

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free... Galatians 5:13

He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Psalm 107:14

Only You
Only You
Only You can make me whole

The clouds are rolling
Full of His glory
The earth, it shakes below

The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. Psalm 104:2-4

Lift up your voice and
declare His power
So all the world will know

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. Isaiah 6:4

Heaven is pouring
And He is restoring
All our brokenness

Freedom is calling
And our chains are falling
To the feet of the King

Only You
Only You
Only You can make me whole

Wake up... Wake up... Wake up... Wake up... Wake up... Wake up...
After the song was finished, we were playing through it, and when we reached the end we just lingered for a bit.  This part just flowed out.  It's so very simple, but it really struck a chord in our hearts.  We could feel ourselves singing it prophetically over our own hearts, and the hearts of those who are broken, those who are trapped in sin, those who are weary, those who are complacent, those who feel stuck, and those who are thirsty for more.

This song is a call for us all to step out into light, to dip ourselves into the river of living water, to be drenched in his goodness, to drink from His endless well, to wake from a passive sleep, to shake off the old ways, to have a new thought, to have a renewed mind, to let go of chains that have already been broken for us, and to worship at the feet of the King.
